Maggie's Cancer Center Aberdeen - Scotland

Maggie’s Aberdeen at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Foresterhill Hospital, is located at Elizabeth Montgomery Building and was built as a part of the Elizabeth Montgomery Foundation.

Maggie’s Cancer Care Center is not a center for treatment but a place in which people can meet, receive help and guidance and the number of the visitors change during the day. The center which is one both connected to the hospital whilst at the same time being set apart and independent on the boundary of Forester Hill Hospital presents ample sunlight and green landscape.
The building designed by Snøhetta Architects was conceived as a pavilion in its parkland setting and it envelops the courtyard by its soft exterior form.
The exterior shell creates the framework for the main spaces of the centre, whilst the timber interior buildings create warm and intimate spaces that the Centre requires. The building is approximately 6m above the existing ground level with a smaller mezzanine area for office functions.
