In his series titled “Fluid Pigments”, the self-professed English “art remixer” Thomas Robson takes old-fashioned paintings and gives them splashes of a modern twist. Though the artistic hybrid of combining ‘old’ and ‘new’ (pardon my unoriginal phrasing- perhaps an artist could think of a more creative term) may not be most recent concept, Robson’s graphic manipulation is stunning. The strikingly realistic paint smudges were in fact digitally produced, courtesy of Robson’s background in Graphic Design.
Dubbed “collision art”, Robson remixes art pieces “to confront received aesthetics & critically re-appraise imagery in a visually saturated world.”
